EcoDive is Bermuda’s pioneering eco‑diving shop and educational scuba centre. Founded by Sam Bennett—who began diving at 11 and became Bermuda’s youngest instructor—EcoDive helps visitors and locals explore coral reefs and historic shipwreck sites through small-group dives, snorkels, and eco-conscious courses. At its core, EcoDive is about more than diving—it’s about growing environmental advocates for Bermuda’s underwater ecosystems.

Social Media

As part of my work with EcoDive Bermuda, I created a series of social media reels and posts aimed at increasing engagement, educating followers, and celebrating student achievements. They combine real underwater footage, educational messaging, and playful illustrations to spotlight environmental issues—such as marine plastic pollution—and promote EcoDive’s core values of sustainability, ocean stewardship, and hands-on learning.

Each post is tailored for Instagram and other platforms, using accessible science communication and strong visual storytelling to engage audiences and encourage eco-action. The content also showcases EcoDive’s wide range of scuba courses—from beginner Open Water certifications to advanced training and dive leadership pathways—highlighting how each course contributes to building confident, conservation-minded divers. Whether diving for fun, for education, or for change, EcoDive offers a purpose-driven experience beneath the surface.

Instagram Reel: “Plastics on Bermuda Reefs – A Closer Look”

Purpose:
To raise awareness about marine plastic pollution in Bermuda’s waters and show how EcoDive empowers divers to become part of the solution—through direct action and informed choices.

Concept & Content:
This educational Reel combines original underwater footage, bold messaging, and playful marine illustrations to guide viewers through a narrative about how marine life mistakenly sees plastic as home or food—and how divers can help shift that story.

Style & Communication Choices:

  • Tone: Empowering, community-focused, visually engaging

  • Branding: Uses EcoDive’s logos, fonts, and illustrated marine creatures to create consistency across platforms

  • Creative credits: All video footage, photos, and animation layout by me

Impact:
This Reel not only informed EcoDive’s audience about plastic’s ecological impact but also promoted their optional net bag initiative—where qualified divers can assist with reef cleanups. It encourages people to dive with a purpose and positions EcoDive as a leader in sustainable, community-driven diving in Bermuda.

Open Water Course – Certified New Divers!

Purpose:
To celebrate the achievement of EcoDive students who successfully completed their Open Water Diver certification—and to promote the structured, supportive learning environment that sets EcoDive apart.

Concept:
This 7-slide carousel was designed to highlight both the step-by-step progression of the course and the community celebration at the finish line. It’s informative, motivational, and designed to attract new divers curious about learning in a calm, eco-conscious setting.

Tone & Visual Style:

  • Colourful, celebratory, and informative

  • Clean layout with dive-themed icons and marine-inspired graphic borders

“Did You Know?” – The Sergeant Major

Purpose:
To engage and educate EcoDive’s online audience with quick, fun, marine biology facts—featuring a recognisable reef species that divers often encounter during Bermuda dives.

Concept:
This 4-slide “Did You Know?” carousel introduces the Sergeant Major fish (Abudefduf saxatilis) with a mix of scientific facts, accessible language, and vibrant underwater photography. It encourages curiosity and builds marine literacy—particularly for new or prospective divers.

Tone & Visual Style:

  • Playful yet factual

  • Marine biology made digestible for a general audience

  • Consistent visual branding with EcoDive colours, logos, and fonts
